Sara Onitsuka (all pronouns) is a 4th generation Japanese-American from Portland, Oregon. She is a senior neuroscience major and political science minor at The College of Wooster in Ohio, where she is co-president of the Asia Supporters in Action club and is conducting a year-long senior research project on "The Effect of Lead Exposure on Aggressive Behavior and Genetics in Male Betta fish", using the average lead level found in Flint, Michigan, and modeling the link between lead exposure and aggression/violent crime. Sara believes that scientists should be activists too, and strives for a more accessible, less elitist scientific community that supports the most marginalized folks in society. She was also a coordinator for Letters for Black Lives, a worldwide open letter project on Anti-Blackness. In her free time, Sara likes to sing, hike, write poetry, and talk about her cat Sky to all who will listen.
