To be honest, ya’ll, this playlist was supposed to be published with last month’s Love Issue. In the January weeks leading up to our publication deadline, I somewhat absentmindedly collected songs for this list while DJing my daily routines. And then the daily routines met realizations of anxiety and depression(s) and even just typing the song titles and artist names in a Google Doc was beyond my capacity.
I’m still navigating those layers (will I ever not be, really?) and forever grateful to my AFO team for supporting me in taking some time away from writing to get at least my eyes back above water.
And while I’ll still allow that the “February Love Issue’s Love Playlist” was a fail (because failing is good and necessary and human, right? As this Virgo, Virgo rising, Aquarius moon is trying to learn and accept….), that won’t stop me from publishing a March Issue Love Playlist.
If I learned anything from the last month’s AFO pieces, like “The Value of Platonic Love” and “Talk, Love, and Patience: Navigating Jealousy in Long-term Polyamory,” it’s that corporate Valentine’s Day’s prescriptions for love should not dictate when, how, and who we love.
So this Love Playlist is and should be year-round--for Self Love, Platonic Friend Love, Romantic Love, and everything between and beyond of the types of love we can currently name.
Listen, delete, add… and if you have ideas for playlist themes, let us know, or, better yet, submit a playlist of your own!

Be honest to yourself about what you want: out of life, to eat, to feel, to do in this world. Honor whatever it is, without judgment. Give yourself whatever it is you need. This is a process that takes time. It is the process of getting to know yourself, getting to know your body – without judgments or assumptions – learning to let all the parts of you be what they are.
Face them, hear them, know them, and find peace in letting them be.
Many of us work against ourselves – denying us pleasure, fulfillment, and fullness. This is no way to find peace. We are working for peace within our bodies and ourselves to reconnect us to our power center. We are learning how to listen to ourselves and honor our needs and desires.
Be kind, be gentle, be love, be open.
Enjoy your body.
