Art for Ourselves (AFO) is dedicated to the liberation and prosperity of QTBIPOC creative individuals and communities, at every intersection. We are an online grassroots community publication by and for QTBIBPOC artists, activists, and cultural workers who are creating art for ourselves. Our definition of art is expansive. Creating art for ourselves means creating our lives in the context we’re in and having the courage to imagine a future in which we are all allowed to thrive. We strive to center, share, and celebrate the stories and voices most often erased from mainstream narratives. In doing so, we validate and humanize our own experience(s), facilitate a deeper understanding of how intersecting oppression manifests in our lives, and actualize our power towards liberation from the capitalist white supremacist-heteropatriarchy. Our quarterly issues feature accessible and timely interviews, reflections on identity and current events, self love practices, and guides for community gatherings and more.
